Wilma Goodman

Wilma (Mendenhall) Goodman passed away on May 17, 2022, at the age of 94, in Orem, Utah. Wilma was born on August 10, 1927, in Cedar City, Utah, to John William Mendenhall and Elsa Hunter Nelson.

After graduating from Cedar City High School, Wilma attended Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City, Utah. Wilma then moved to Provo, Utah and attended Brigham Young University.

Wilma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  In 1949 Wilma was called to serve in the Great Lakes Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wilma had many wonderful experiences on her mission. While serving, Wilma met Elder Karl Goodman. After returning home from her mission, she reconnected with Karl.  Wilma and Karl were married in the St. George Utah Temple on June 4, 1952. Together they had nine children.

Wilma served in many positions in the church, including Primary President and Young Women President. Wilma also served an additional three missions with her husband, Karl. They served in the Mexico, Mexico City North Mission; the Costa Rica Mission; and as Church service Missionaries in the Church Educational System in the Tongan Mission. Wilma’s teachings and example leave a legacy of testimony, dedication, and hard work.

Wilma had many talents and interests. She worked as a bookkeeper for most of her married life. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles. Wilma loved working in her flower garden.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings; husband, Karl Goodman; daughter, Catharine Elsa Goodman; granddaughter, Angela Goodman; son-in-law, Nathan Parker; and daughter-in-law, Jeanmarie Goodman.

Wilma is survived by her children: Karl (Katherine) Goodman, Kurt (Colleen) Goodman, Robin (Ken) Erickson, Cindy (Clint) Jones, Mark (Michelle) Goodman, Gaylynn Parker, Dan Goodman, Adam (Kanani) Goodman, 42 grandchildren, and 74 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Wilma will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 828 South Locust Avenue, Pleasant Grove, Utah 84062. There will be a viewing prior to the funeral from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Relief Society Room. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah 84120.
