Wallace Saling, 84, of Orem, Utah passed away, Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Wallace was born March 18, 1934 in Ogden, Utah to Wallace M. Saling and Verland Penrod. Wallace was the oldest of three siblings, he had a younger sister Sally King and a younger brother Larry Saling. His father worked as a District Forest Ranger in Oakley, Idaho where he rented a house owned by Elder David B. Haight’s parents.
When Wallace was 12 years old he took a job in a printing firm. He has been a printer ever since. Wallace was 14 when his father became District Ranger over American Fork Canyon. When he graduated high school he went to BYU and majored in Industrial Journalism and Air Science. He was in the Air Force for four years.
He served in South African for his first mission. He and his second wife Ellen served a couple’s mission in Palmyra, New York historic sites.
Wallace is survived by his first wife, Kathryn Garrett their two daughters; Leslie Pierson and Terri Danowski. Ellen his second wife and their three children; David Saling, Elizabeth Shipe and Vanessa Hoffmann.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel at 400 W. 140 N., Orem, Utah. Viewings will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, January 21 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 400 W. 140 N., Orem, Utah and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the American Fork City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at on this page.
