Violet Young

Violet Marie Creech Jones Young (94) of Orem Utah returned home to the loving arms of her Heavenly Farther on April 13, 2018 of natural causes. She was born on September 18, 1923, in Hopkins Missouri.  Violet was the second youngest of 6 children born to John Walter Lynn Creech and Nina Estella Maude Marie Sparks.

After graduating from Easton (Kansas) high school she met and married her sweetheart Steve Robert Jones in Leavenworth Kansas on October 18, 1941. (Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on December 3, 1977).

They were blessed to have four children Robert Dean, Wanda Verlene, Cheryl Lynne, and Steve Michael. Violet was so proud of her children and the accomplishments that they achieved throughout their lives, she felt the same of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved having them visit her, she loved holding them and singing to the little ones.

Later on in her life, some years after the death of husband Steve she met and married Ferra Marcel Young.  She cherished the time she spent with Marcel.  He was so kind and caring to her.  He was as Violet called him ‘One in a million!’  He treated all of her family as they were his own.

Violet was a woman of great courage, strength, and love. Violet served in many calls as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Saints, such as Relief Society, Primary and Young Women’s. She dearly loved working with the children/youth of the church. She looked forward to going to church each and every Sunday.

Violet was a seamstress, she enjoyed home decorating; she loved refinishing old furniture fixing and glamorizing homes. She also enjoyed reading, coloring and Sudoku.

Violet was proceeded in death by her Mother and Father, her baby brother, Willis Lloyd, sister Thelma (Higgins), brothers, Orville Lynn, Clarence LaVone.  Also, her first husband Steve Robert Jones and second husband F. Marcel Young and grandson Kevin Lairby. Violet is survived by her sons Bobby and Steve (Wanda Jo) Jones, and daughters Wanda Jones and Cheryl Fugett. Violet has 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 21, 2018 at 11am at the Cascade Stake Center, located at 481 East Center Street, Orem, UT. Viewings will be held on Friday April 20, 2018 at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, UT, from 6 to 8pm and Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30am prior to services. Interment will follow the services at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
