Vera Beeston

November 18, 1934 — April 14, 2018

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Vera Beeston, of Orem, Utah, passed away April 14, 2018.  She was the fourth child of seven children born to Rudolph and Mary Larsen in Nampa, Idaho, on November 18, 1934. She married Thomas R. Beeston July 16, 1956, in the Logan LDS Temple.  He preceded her in death on March 18, 2017.

Vera grew up in the small farming community of Emmett, Idaho.  After graduating from Emmett High School, she received her nurses training at St. Luke Hospital School of Nursing and Boise Junior College.  Four days after graduating, she and Tom were married and moved to Ogden, Utah.  In 1960, they moved to their home in Orem, Utah, where she lived for 57 years.  While Vera devoted her life to her husband and children, she also volunteered many hours to the American Red Cross, PTA and the LDS Indian Placement Program.   After serving 24 years as a volunteer she enrolled in an R.N. refresher course, which she helped initiate, at the University of Utah.  Vera worked in the pediatric department at the American Fork Hospital from 1981 until she retired in 1993.  Vera was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission with her husband at the BYU Family History Library. She and Tom also served as temple ordinance workers in the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos Temples.  Vera enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, camping, and travelling. She had a special ability to always see the good in other people and she treated everyone with respect.  She enjoyed reading and made numerous quilts for each of her children and grandchildren.

Vera is survived by her sisters: Ruth Sims and Carol Thomson, and her brother Frank Larsen (Laura).  She is the mother of nine children:  Rodney Beeston (Cindy), Maureen Beeston (deceased 2012), Ralph Beeston (Denise), Andra Stokes (Ray), Bruce Beeston (Carolyn), Keith Beeston (Jeri), VaNae Flake (Read), Sharon Brooks (Jason), and Janell Taylor (Aaron); grandmother of 37 and great-grandmother of 17.  She considered all her descendants “The flowers in her garden” with whom she gave selfless love.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, her daughter, Maureen, her sister Evelyn Melugin and her two brothers, Alvin and Aaron, who died in infancy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sharon 4th Ward Chapel located at 700 East 445 South, Orem, Utah.  A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services at the chapel.  Interment will be in the Orem Cemetery.
