Thomas Elton Prince

October 31, 1945 — May 26, 2024

Orem

THOMAS ELTON PRINCE passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at the age of 78.  He was born October 31, 1945, to Cecil William Prince and Alice Iown Bangerter Prince.  He was preceded in death by both parents and a newborn baby daughter, Seraph.  He is survived by his wife, Myra Killpack Prince, six children:  Troy, Tawnya, Pamela, Rachelle, Jon & Zach; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

During high school, Tom was an avid wrestler–a sport he loved dearly.  He had a lifelong hobby of building and flying radio-controlled airplanes.  He had an extensive collection of model trains that he enjoyed sharing with his grandkids.

After graduating from high school in 1963, Tom worked as a grounds laborer for the Salt Lake School District.  In 1964 he worked for Harrington & Sons Roofing. That summer he began attending BYU and working for Denver & Rio Grande Railroad as a brakeman.

Tom was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served full time in the Texas Mission from 1965-1967. Afterwards, he returned to BYU and continued to work part-time for the Railroad. About this time he met Myra at BYU, and they were married seven months later in the Salt Lake Utah Temple.  About three months later he joined the US Navy and made it a lifetime career as an Ocean Systems Technician. In 1979 he graduated from Weber State College with a Bachelors of Science Degree.

Tom continued competing in wrestling tournaments for the US Navy and won several trophies.  In later years he enjoyed coaching high school wrestling in Northern California.  After retiring from the Navy in 1991, he brought his family back to Utah and went to work as a Job Coach for the Deseret Industries. Tom also loved working on his Family History.

We wish to express our gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, and medical teams who so lovingly cared for Tom and his wife while he was in the hospital.
