Thomas Beeston

Thomas Beeston, our devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Orem, Utah, on March 18, 2017. He was born to Joseph and Florence Beeston in Fillmore, Utah, on February 15, 1926.

He was the fourth of five sons. Tom enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after his graduation from Millard High School and served in World War II for two years, until 1946, on a troop transport ship. He attended Utah State Agricultural College (USU) in Logan, Utah, graduating as a Civil Engineer.  He then had work on Utah and Idaho State Highways.

He married Vera Ann Larsen, July 16, 1956, in the Logan Temple. Tom worked many years for the Bureau of Reclamation in Ogden, Provo, and Salt Lake City, retiring at the end of 1990. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served a mission at the BYU Family History Library.  He served as a temple ordinance worker for nine years in the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos Temples.  Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vera, and one brother, Richard Beeston (Essie) of Hurricane, Utah. He is the father of nine children: Rod Beeston (Cindy), Maureen Beeston (deceased 2012), Ralph Beeston (Denise), Andra Stokes (Ray), Bruce Beeston (Carolyn), Keith Beeston (Jeri), VaNae Flake (Read), Sharon Brooks (Jason), and Janell Taylor (Aaron); grandfather of 37, and great-grandfather of 13, all of whom he was justly proud.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sharon 4th Ward Chapel 445 South 700 East, Orem.  A viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the funeral services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
