Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister returned peacefully to Heavenly Father on her ninety-fourth birthday, March 24, 2017.
Sybil Harmon Haderlie was born March 24, 1923, in Fairview, Wyoming, to Walter and LaPrele Harmon. She was one of thirteen children.
She married Paul F. Haderlie on October 26, 1939, in the Logan Temple and they had nine children.
She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and served in a many church callings. She especially enjoyed primary children. She and Paul served as a missionary couple on Temple Square. She also served as a full-time missionary in the Vancouver British Columbia mission at the age of eighty. One of the highlights of their sixty-two years together was a cruise to Israel for the dedication of the Orson Hyde Park on the occasion of their fortieth wedding anniversary.
Sybil loved to work in her flower gardens. She loved growing roses and delivering them to someone who needed some optimism in their life.
Survived by eight children, Fred (RLou) of Vista, California; Kathleen Madsen (Daniel) of Orem, Utah; Blake of Queen Creek, Arizona; Steven (Joan) of Salem, Utah; Brian (Deon) of Greensboro, North Carolina; Brenda Lewis (Rik) of Vernal, Utah; SherRon Houghton (Dale) of Heber, Utah; Jeffery (Kiersten) of Orem, Utah; forty-one grandchildren, ninety-six great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the kind staff and management at Summerfield Retirement where Sybil has lived for the past three years. The hospice staff of Envision Hospice were especially caring and loving during the past year. The family expresses appreciation to Nate, Ginselvi, Mike, Lovette, and Kerry.
She was preceded in death by her husband (Paul), son (David), grandchildren (Scotty, Brandon), great-grandchildren (Brant, Zach), her parents, sister (Alice), and brothers (Rondo and Duane).
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary chapel at 495 South State Street Orem, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday prior to the services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Both viewings are at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
