Steven Daniel Lowe, 67, unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep of a heart condition Saturday morning, July 13, 2024. He was born September 19, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Richard and Barbara Lowe. He was raised in Orem, Utah and graduated from Orem High School in 1974. Steven married the love of his life, Kathy Long, on October 13, 1977 in the Manti Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. Together they raised six wonderful children and have eighteen grandchildren.
Steven was a general contractor and tile contractor for the last 47 years. He enjoyed the creative side of designing and laying tile. Working hard was something he loved to do. Steven was passionate about spending time with his family, no matter what they were doing together. They loved boating, hunting, kayaking, traveling, jazz games, going to the circus, camping, playing cards, cruises, and sharing fabulous food. He also enjoyed his collection of animals: lizards, fish, frogs, turtles, and tortoises.
Steven was affectionately known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren. Monopoly was his favorite pastime. Whenever any of his grandchildren were around, they played for hours and hours, well into the night. Steven adored baking and was well-known for his famous spudnuts, giant cinnamon rolls, cream puffs, freshly baked bread, and chocolate cake with fluffy white frosting and cherries. Steven had a deep love for God and a compassionate, generous heart. He loved helping others and giving everything he had to those around him. He used his many talents to serve neighbors, friends, and family.
Steven is survived by his wife, Kathy, his six children: Mindy Powell of Saint Johns, FL; Kristen (Dave) Harris of Santa Clara, UT; Tiffany (Jordan) Webber of St. George, UT; Steven Jr. (Rebecca) Lowe of San Clemente, CA; Jonathan (Jamie) Lowe of Orem, UT; and Brandon (Tina) Lowe of Ostego, MN; and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry, and two grandchildren, Taylor Webber and Sunny Powell.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11 AM at the Cascade Fourth Ward LDS chapel located at 1051 E 200 N in Orem, Utah.
