Steven Kitchen

May 31, 1951 — March 12, 2023

Orem, UT

Steven Thomas Kitchen, age 71, passed from this earthly life in the home that was built by his father (Norval) and grandfather (Thomas Lee Kitchen) in Orem, Utah. He was born on 31 May 1951, in Provo Hospital to Norval and Fay Kitchen.

He attended Westmore Elementary, Lincoln Junior High, and Orem High School graduating in 1969. He went on a successful mission to the southern states, and upon his return, he met and married Caline Ann McKinlay on 24 August 1973, in the Manti Temple.  He worked for McNally States Steel until they closed in 1984, wherein he pursued higher education from Utah Technical College. He graduated on 13 June 1987, with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and accounting. After graduation, he was employed as a master welder and machinist at Payson Fruit Growers until he retired in 2005.

He had a deep love for hunting and held a lifetime hunting license that he won from the Elks Club after purchasing a single raffle ticket. He enjoyed camping and anything outdoors. He served in multiple church callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, including ward clerk, scoutmaster, and librarian. He was creative and talented and took great pride in his woodworking skills and plastic canvas artwork. He enjoyed spending time with his family and even passed his creative passion to his children and grandchildren. There was no other place he wanted to be than with his family. They were his greatest pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Caline; and his children: Jennifer (Rick) Kuester of Provo, Utah; Linda Kitchen of Rochester, Minnesota; Norval (Jen) Kitchen of Orem, Utah; Mary (Jim) Spencer of Rochester, Minnesota; Travis (Tracy) Kitchen of San Antonio, Texas; Sharlene Heward of Lehi, Utah; and Calvin (Angie) Kitchen of Payson, Utah; 32 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Sherman Kitchen, Chris Kitchen, Karen Kitchen, LaRae (John) Moosman, and Norma (Jim) Brookes. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Samantha Kuester; parents; and seven siblings: Margaret, Marvin, Darrell, Carolyn (Desmond) Johnson, Rosalie, and Janice.
