Spencer Leishman Johnston, age 25, was born on September 8, 1992 in Falls Church, Virginia and tragically died in a motorcycle accident in Provo, Utah on May 19, 2018.
Spencer grew up in Virginia and graduated from Brooke Point High School where he played Lacrosse, ran cross country, and sang with the Madrigals. He enjoyed kayaking, camping, and hiking. He was also very active in Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle.
He served a two-year mission in the Cuernavaca area of Mexico for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He earned an Associate’s degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho. He was attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and was scheduled to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in August 2018. He had plans to move back to Virginia following graduation, having accepted a full-time position with accounting firm PwC.
To those who knew him well, Spencer was a loyal friend who didn’t judge; who never quit even when times got tough; who was kind and had a sense of humor. He naturally connected with people one-on-one. He loved to make specific plans for his future, especially his career. Spencer also loved fixing trucks and motorcycles, his own and others’.
He is survived and will be forever remembered by his father, Mark Robert Johnston; his mother, Lynne (Pusey Ensign) Johnston; his siblings, Oliver Holbrook Johnston, Mark Easton (wife, Emma and daughter, Grace Celeste) Johnston, Pierce Ensign (wife, Sierra and daughter, Alice Kristine) Johnston, and Lynne Ann Johnston. Spencer also leaves behind grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins, and countless friends in Utah, Virginia, and elsewhere.
