Shirley Mae Bullock Twitchell, our wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Sister passed-away peacefully on Sunday, May 20th, 2018. She was 87. Shirley was born in Salt Lake City on October 23rd, 1930, to Samuel and Ila Shafer Bullock. Shirley loved to tell stories of her childhood and looked back fondly on her memories of growing up in Bacchus Village.
She graduated from Cyprus High School in Magna in 1948. Shirley loved to learn and was an avid reader throughout her life. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had an enduring testimony of it truths.
Shirley worked for Hercules Powder Company, where she was Secretary to the Plant Manager for several years. She loved her work and was employed there until 1964. She married Quinton Twitchell on November 29, 1963. She continued to work for Hercules Powder Co. until the birth of their first child. She then got to do what she considered the best “job” in the world—be a stay-at-home Mother. Their family grew to include three daughters; Lynda, Tammy, and Terry. Quinton died suddenly in April, 1975 and Shirley raised their three daughters while eventually going to work for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the Garment Distribution Center, where she became the assistant manager. She held this position for 15 years.
Shirley always saw the good in others and was ever an example of what it means to give charitably to all with whom she came in contact.
Her family will miss her immensely, but are grateful for her reunion with her husband, Quinton after 43 years.
Shirley is survived by her brother Ron (Connie), Mesquite, Nevada, her step daughter, Eileen Thomas of Payson; Lynda (John) Stout of Lehi, Tammy (David) Smith of Springville, and Terry (Warren) Biggs of American Fork; 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at the Orem Sharon Stake Center, 545 South 800 East Orem, Utah at 11:00 a.m. There will not be a viewing. Interment will be at the Salem City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Maple Creek Home Health & Hospice and Summerfield Assisted Living for their kind and loving care of Shirley at the end of her life.
Condolences may be left for the family on this page.
