Shirley Pulver

February 22, 1922 — October 2, 2019

Shirley Chatterly Widdop Pulver, 97, of Orem passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2019 at Bel Aire Assisted Living in Orem.

Shirley was born in Kanab, Utah on February 22, 1922 to Martin and Carrie Chatterly, where she was raised with four brothers and 3 sisters. She graduated high school and spent time working at the famous Perry Lodge and rubbing elbows with old western movie stars and even trying her hand as an extra in an old western movie or two.

It was in Kanab where she met her 1st love James Widdop, he was there serving in the Army. The were married in 1940 moved to Wyoming where they had two children. Eventually moving to Utah living in Provo and Orem and adding one more child finally settling in Orem. Shirley worked for a while at Barbazon Fabric in Provo and Community Press in Orem. Shirley and Jim were members of the Good Sams Club which took them on many traveling adventurers spending time at Quartsite, AZ. where they meet many good friends.

James passed away in 1989, Shirley continued to be a gypsy with the Good Sams, going on many road trips spending time with her fellow Good Sammers, where she struck up a court ship and later marrying Jean Pulver in 1994. They spent 19 years together also traveling with the Good Sams and spending time in Quartsite, AZ and wintering in St. George, UT. also adding more wonderful family members. Jean passed away in 2012 in St. George. Shirley returned to Orem where she revealed in the company of her family. Watching it grow in number, including many grandkids, great grandkids and great-great grandkids and still counting.

Shirley loved her family without measure or judgment. Loved spending time with each and every one of them. Spreading her kindness and generosity to all those who were part of her life.

Shirley is survived by her brother Louis Chatterly; sister Lois Whiting; sister Zolene Walker; her son Chuck Widdop (Jan); daughter Sandra Davis (Dave).

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands James Widdop and Jean Pulver. Brothers Rendo, Cloyd and Kendle; Sister Laura; Son Rickie (Mila); Granddaughter Kami and Grandson Brandon.

Shirley lived her later years at Bel Aire Assisted Living in Orem. The family of Shirley Widdop Pulver would like to send out a very heart felt Thanks and Gratitude to the staff of Bel Aire for the special care they took of our loving mother treating her like the angel she was. A heart felt thank you to Bristol Hospice for all their concern, care and help. A very special thank you to Jay who was an angel always there to help with anything that was needed.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, at Timpanogos Memorial Gardens, 1000 N. 400 E., Orem, UT. A Viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the graveside at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State Street, Orem, UT. Condolences may be expressed to the family on this page.
