Our loving, dedicated mother passed away February 22, 2019 from causes incident to age. Shirley was born in San Pedro, California, January 5, 1932 to Quis S. and Grace B. Larsen. The family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah shortly thereafter. Shirley was raised on 11th East in Salt Lake and counted many prominent church leaders as neighbors and friends. She is the second of six children. Shirley graduated from East High and then from BYU Academy majoring in Business. It was in Provo where she met our Father, Gary Joseph Loveridge. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on Nov 12, 1953. They lived in Fort Ord, California while Gary served in the Army during the Korean conflict, then they moved back to Utah. They purchased a home in Orem, where they lived for 62 years and raised their 5 children. Shirley was a stay-at-home mom but kept herself busy with many and various jobs as a way to contribute. She eventually worked as a CES secretary at the nearby Orem High Seminary, then Provo High Seminary, eventually completing her career at Utah Valley State College Institute. She was an active, dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in many callings. She and Gary served 4 full time missions in the United States and Europe.
Shirley is survived by her sister Jean (George) Thomas, brothers Stewart (Annette) Larsen, Ralph (Joyce) Larsen, Lynn (Cynthia) Larsen, 2 sisters-in-law, Kay Vernon and Kathy Loveridge, her 5 children Lori (Scott) Sanderson, Mike (Linda) Loveridge, Jim (Annett) Loveridge, Trish Cantrell, Lisa (Mike) Talbot, 22 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren with at least 1 on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband Gary Loveridge, her parents, Quis Stewart and Grace Beck Larsen, brother Don and his wife Madelyn Larsen, one grandchild, Scott Sanderson Jr. and one great-grand child, Peter Loveridge.
The family would like to thank the staff at Courtyard at Jamestown Assisted Living for their dedicated and loving care of Shirley for the past year and for the great and lasting friends she had there. You were in her last thoughts.
