Scot Richard Backus passed January 30, 2018, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He fought valiantly to the end.
Scot was born January 7, 1956, in Provo, Utah, to Dale and Hallie Backus. He was the second child of four.
Scot was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He loved camping with his family especially with his daughters. He taught his grandson to play baseball in which he has excelled and he never missed a game. Scot was Talon’s biggest fan.
Scot was a respected ironworker and crane operator and traveled the country constructing many large buildings.
Scot was a giving man with a big heart. He enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family. His door was always open and he would never hesitate to help another.
Scot’s grandkids were the apple of his eye and meant the world to him. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and they thought he hung the moon.
Scot and his son in law Brandon, built a trusting relationship. Scot knew that Brandon would take care of his daughter Caitlin and their boys.
Scot is survived by his three daughters Jessica, Caitlin (Brandon), and step-daughter Sunni (Marc); his grandchildren Talon, Aaleeya, Brayden, Kannen, and Dayton; his siblings Craig and Kathy; as well as uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Scot is preceded in death by his mother, father and little sister Debra and many friends.
