Ruth was born in Cleveland, Emery County, UT on 14 April 1925, and passed away at age 93 on 6 May 2018, in Orem, UT. She was the youngest of five children born to William Peace Stokes and Grace Elizabeth Cox, and loved her life on a small farm even though times were tough during the depression and war years.
She graduated from North Emery High School in 1943 and married Lester Reed Staker. They had two children, Allan Reed and Kathryn and were divorced in 1952. In 1958 she married Dewey Jay Zubeck and they had one son, Lynn Clark.
They lived in Orem on their one-acre farm, growing fruit and vegetables, enjoying gardening, keeping the grass green and the flowers blooming. They also enjoyed “tripping” in their pickup and camping trailer. Ruth cared for Dewey as his health declined until he passed away in 2017.
With the loving care of her daughter, Kathryn, she remained in her home until it became necessary to move to the Summerfield Retirement Center in Orem where she passed away. She passed with a small list of ailments, but the main culprit was simply old age. At 93 she was still sharp mentally until the final few days when she slipped gradually away. She could still see the humor in small things until she passed.
She was a lifetime active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, and her husband. She is survived by three children Allan Reed Staker (Kristi Clark) of Springdale UT, Kathryn Sullivan (Craig) of Sandy UT, and Lynn Clark Zubeck (Lori Thomas) of Delta UT. She is the proud grandmother of nine and the great-grandmother of twelve.
Funeral services will be held at her LDS ward, 365 S. 900 E. Orem, UT at 11:00 am on Saturday, 12 May 2018. Friends and family are invited to gather from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery following the service.
