Ruby Nicol

Ruby Phillips Nicol of Orem, Utah passed away peacefully on Monday May 16, 2016 at Timpanogos Hospital, at the age of 92.

Ruby was born June 6, 1923, to John Albert and Lorinda Christina Swenson Phillips in Twin Falls, Idaho. Ruby was the middle child of six sisters and three brothers.

She married Brigham Rue Nicol December 11, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple.  Brigham passed away in 1963.   Ruby, being young, raised her family of 5 children alone: Michael R. Nicol (Marsha), P. Kent Nicol (Mignon), H. Dale Nicol,   Kevin R. Nicol (Marie-Louise), Kathryne Rowley (Robert L.)

Ruby worked to provide for her family.  She worked for Alpine School District at Hillcrest Elementary Media Center as a Librarian.  She enjoyed telling stories, and teaching thousands of children that came through the library.  She also worked at the Utah Institute of Neurological Development.

Ruby's life has been a life of service to family, friends, community and the LDS Church.

Ruby had the opportunity to serve as a missionary once a week at temple square for four years and then served as a missionary locator in Salt Lake City for 18 months.   Ruby served faithfully in whatever calling she was asked to do.

Ruby was also civic minded in her community and loved serving the people where she lived in a variety of settings and organizations.

Ruby's greatest joy was her Family and Grandchildren.

The last 3 years she has resided at Summerfield Manor Assisted Living in Orem Utah, where she will be remembered  for her cheerfulness and making others happy.

We are grateful for her positive example and enduring love.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Orchard 2nd Ward, 670 E 800 N, Orem, UT. Viewings will be held on Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State, Orem, and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Hills, 4800 N 650 E, Provo, UT.
