Rose Mary Freek Fitts, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019, at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah of heart failure.
She attended school in the Roswell area, and went on to work work at Levi Strauss & Co. for five years. She also enjoyed taking college courses at ENMU-P and ENMU-R. In 2002 she relocated to Provo, Utah to join her sisters.
Rose Mary was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on 9 December 1958 to Roy Henry Freek Jr. and Mary Alta Berry. She was the fourth girl and the sixth child (as she would say) of 10 children born to this family. Family members who preceded her in death were her parents: Roy Henry Freek, Jr. (1971) and Mary Alta Berry Freek (1999); siblings: Martha June Freek (1958-stillbirth), Vicki Freek (2012) and Roy Henry Matthews (2010) and Patsy Ann Freek (2014). Surviving her are two children: J. R. Fitts (Provo, UT), Ambere Fitts (Pleasant Grove, UT). Grandchildren: Christian Skipper (Pleasant Grove, UT), Caelan (Pleasant Grove, UT), Rainee Fitts (Provo, UT), Celine (CeCe) Fitts (Provo, UT). Surviving siblings include: Terry Freek (Orem, UT), Arthur Freek (Orem, UT), Betty (Janie) Freek (Orem, UT), and Peggy Freek (Provo, UT), David Freek (Provo, UT).
Rose Mary loved her children and grandchildren. They were the apple of her eye. Rose Mary truly never met a stranger! She loved people and astrology and on any encounter with a new friend, she was quick to relate them to their astrological sign, and make a connection that neither would forget. She loved to entertain the crowd with her stories and jokes. She loved to laugh!
Rose Mary was a homemaker and one of her favorite activities was cross-stitch. She took great pride in making sure the back was as neat as the front. She enjoyed cooking too. She (and her sister Patsy) will be remembered by her famous Christmas tamales! Being a former New Mexican, this was an annual tradition everyone enjoyed.
The family so appreciates the medical professonals of the cardiac critical care unit at Utah Valley Hospital for the tender loving care of Rose Mary in her final days. She remarked several times how she appreciated of their efforts.
Condolences may be expressed to the family on this page.
