Ronald Lynn Mason passed away peacefully at his home in Orem, surrounded by family, on March 11, 2015. He had suffered from Parkinson's disease for 19 years. He was the son of Reuben Mason and Mary Erma Darger Mason, and was born in Murray, Utah and raised in North Salt Lake. He married Sharon Norcia in Waterford, CT on June 22, 1968 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake temple the following week, on June 28th. As a youth, Lynn worked as a contract mail hauler for the U.S. Department of Labor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Bountiful High Junior Rifle Club and the National Rifle Association. He competed in the National Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio in 1957 and 1959. He also taught NRA safety courses. He was a member of the Utah National Guard from 1959 to 1964. Lynn attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah where he studied design and architecture. He served in the Western Canadian Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and when that mission was divided he spent the remainder of his call in the Alberta area. Lynn resided in Stonington, CT from 1965 until his retirement in 2002. As a building contractor and construction manager in southern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut, he was highly regarded for his honesty and integrity. He learned his trade as a teenager, under the direction of his father, and after his marriage he began his own business in residential and commercial construction. For the final fifteen years of his career he was a partner in Timahoe Associates Construction Management in Mystic, CT. Lynn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a counselor in the Hartford Connecticut Stake Mission Presidency, as a member of the Hartford Stake High Council, as a seminary instructor, as bishop of the Groton Ward, Hartford, Connecticut Stake, as bishop of the Naragansett Young Single Adult Ward of the Providence Rhode Island Stake, and as a member of the Providence Stake High Council. Lynn loved to design homes and gardens. He also enjoyed walks through the Connecticut woodlands, and sunset strolls on the beach with his wife. He treasured his children, grandchildren, and all his young single adults. Lynn is survived by his wife, Sharon; his sons Matthew, Paul, John, Brigham, Benjamin, Jared, and his daughter Rebecca and their spouses. He was Grandpa or Poppa to 22 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Evelyn Haaf, Jeanine Moyer , Betty Anne Strebeck, and Linda Neil; his brothers, Jack, Steve, Jim, Thom, Will and Tim. He was predeceased by his Sister, Bonnie and his brother, Joe. A funeral service is planned at the LDS ward chapel at 1405 North Main Street, Orem, Utah on Monday at 2 pm. There will be a viewing from 12:45 pm until 1:45 prior to the service.
