Ronald Gilbert Gardner, 71, passed away peacefully June 5, 2016, as a result of cancer. He was born in Caliente, Nevada on December 19, 1944. He was the third of 4 children born to Myron and Mildred Gardner. At the age of 3 they moved to Provo, UT.
He graduated from Provo High in 1963. Ron joined the National Guard while still a senior in High School, serving 18 yrs in the reserves. In 1965 he received a mission call to serve in the Westen States for two years. Following his mission, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business from BYU. He was President of the Young Men Service Organization at BYU.
In 1977 he married Shereen Hutchings of Merced, CA, in the Provo Temple. They were blessed with 8 children.
Ron worked as a real estate agent & broker for many years. Also worked at the Provo Railroad Credit Union for 14 years. He also was a Mortgage Lender Broker.
Ron enjoyed spending time with family snowmobiling, camping, Lake Powell, and watching his children in their many activities.
He served 2 missions at the MTC working with the new missionaries & in the International Office; served in the Provo Temple for several years; and he had many church callings throughout his life.
Ron loved people and was loved by many & will be missed by his family and many wonderful friends.
Ron was preceeded in death by his parents and a grandson. He is survived by his wife, Shereen, children, Brad (Shannon) of Hurricane, Ryann of Orem, Aarin (Tyler) Maughan of Lehi, Megan (Trevan) Hatch of Provo, Derrick (Ashley) of Saratoga Springs, Matt (Elise) of Bountiful, Chase of Provo, Trevon of Provo. Also survived by 2 sisters, Myrna Muhlestein & Debbie Hunter and 1 brother, Larry Gardner; and 15 grand children.
A viewing will be held Friday, June 10, from 6-8 at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State Street, Orem. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 11, at the LDS Chapel, 1260 W. 1150 N., Provo, UT, at 11 am with a viewing beginning at 9:30 am. Burial will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills.
