Roger Haley Howard Jr. was born on 7 September 1943 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the son of Roger Haley Howard and Kathleen Rose Trotter Howard.
Roger graduated from Princess Anne High School, Princess Anne County, Virginia, in 1961. He served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Korean Mission from 1962 to 1965.
Roger married his life-long companion Kathleen Linford Nuttall in 1968 in the Laie, Hawaii, LDS temple. They were married for 52 years. Roger and Kathleen had three sons, Geoffrey Marcus (Lorile) of Visalia, CA, Charles Michael (Broghan) of Virgina Beach, VA, and John Edward of Salt Lake. They have 5 grandchildren. He was educated at Brigham Young University and at the George Washington University.
His 20 year Navy career included enlisted service from Seaman Recruit through Chief Hospital Corpsman and commissioned service from Ensign through Lieutenant Commander, Medical Service Corps, USN. His duty assignments varied from Naval Hospital Danang, Republic of Vietnam, to the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, Navy Department, Washington, D.C.
Roger was active in the Church of Jesus Christ and served in many callings including missionary, bishopric counselor, and stake high councilor.
Private family services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, UT. A public viewing will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the mortuary. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.
