Robert Boyack Johnson, 90, died in Provo, Utah, on Monday, February 26, 2018, thus reuniting with his wife and parents. He no longer needs to mourn the loss of his wife. He was born on February 3, 1928, in Spanish Fork, Utah, the son of Harold Martin Johnson and Susan Mildred Boyack. He married Arleen Taft on March 26, 1949, in Bicknell, Utah, and was sealed in the Manti Temple on June 26, 1949.
He graduated from Provo High School. He was employed at Geneva Steel, serving on the Geneva Recreation Association Board of Directors. After retiring, he worked at Shopko in Provo.
Bob was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served two full-time missions with his wife at the LDS Employment Center and two part-time missions at the Missionary Training Center. He worked in the Provo Temple for 18 years.
He is survived by a daughter Tafta (Kerry) Watson of Fillmore, Utah, and her six Eagle Scout sons: Robert Lee (Sandy) of Weatherford, Texas; Wesley Sowards of Highland, Utah; Kerry Ray (Lisa) of Fairview, Texas; Stacy Vern (Esther) of Provo, Utah; Todd Boyack of Provo, Utah; and Rett Lyman (Darcy) of Sugar Hills, Georgia. He has thirty-one grandchildren, eighty-eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He has a surviving sister, Carol Johnson and a brother, Warren Boyack Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, great-granddaughter Evelyn Arleen Tuthill, and three brothers: Harold Martin Jr, Glade Warren, and Stanley Russell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Grandview 5th Ward located at 1555 North 1350 West, Provo, Utah. Viewings will be on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah, and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. just prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
