Robert Jay Van Dam passed away peacefully in his home on February 26, 2025. He is survived by his daughter Paula Van Dam Thurston (Zack), stepdaughter Jennifer Workman Bingman (Anson), and his sister, Claudia Cook. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Workman Van Dam, his mother, Lois Erickson Van Dam, and his father, Jay Louis Van Dam.
He grew up in Midvale and graduated from Hillcrest High School. He attended the University of Utah before joining the US Air Force Reserves. He drove freight trucks across the country and then gained employment through Orem City.
Bob worked as an Orem City employee at the water reclamation plant for 30 years. After he retired from the city, he worked as a marshal at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course. He loved to golf with his buddies. He was a big fan of the Utah Jazz and the University of Utah Utes.
He loved animals and had a soft spot for the stray cats in his backyard. His dog Timber was his constant companion.
He will be laid to rest at Orem City Cemetery on 1520 N 800 East in Orem at 11:00 am on Monday, March 3. There will be a viewing from 6-8 pm on Sunday, March 2nd, at Wheeler-Sundberg Funeral Home on 495 S. State Street in Orem. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
