Robert Kent Karpowitz, age 63, of Orem, passed away Wednesday, November 9th, 2016. He was born in Provo on May 8th, 1953, to Robert Karl and Barbara Jean Karpowitz. He married Sylvia Ramirez on March 6th, 1975 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Robert was a hard-working, committed man and many buildings across the country stand tall because of him. He was constantly pushing himself to be the best at anything he put his mind to, and always took the time to teach those around him to do the same. He loved coaching baseball when his sons were in little league, where he instilled the value of hard work, integrity, and commitment to all that played for him. His greatest passion in life, however, were his grandchildren. He would stop at nothing to make sure they were smiling and laughing, and never let them leave the house without pockets full of candy.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sylvia of Orem, his mother, Barbara of Orem, his sisters Karen Karpowitz and Kathy Smith both of Orem, his sons Kevin and Kristopher both of Orem, his grandson, Benjamin, and granddaughter, Aislinn. He was proceeded in death by his sister, Kory Lees.
There will be a viewing at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem, on Monday, November 14, from 9:30-11:30am. A graveside service will follow at the Orem Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East in Orem at noon. All are welcome to attend. Condolences may be left for the family here.
