Robert Jensen

December 30, 1924 — September 7, 2017

Robert Gardner Jensen, 92, of Orem and St. George, Utah, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017. He was born to John Henry and Eva Gardner Jensen in Ephraim, Utah. He married his sweetheart Lola Drage in 1947 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Bob enlisted in the Army Air Corps in WWII and trained as a pilot but the war ended before he was given orders. He loved anything fast – planes or motorcycles.  Riding motorcycles was a lifelong passion and he loved his Harley and Honda Goldwing.

Bob was a hard worker and spent 34 years at Geneva Steel in the Pipe Mill as a crane operator. He attended Snow College before World War II and later learned construction trades at Utah Technical College. Bob built multiple homes throughout the state and could build or fix anything.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout his life, including serving as a veil worker and coordinator at the Provo Temple for 15 years.

Bob is survived by his wife Lola Drage Jensen, his son Craig (Penny) Jensen, Blair (Nancy) Jensen, Launa (Jack) Miller, and Cory (Andrea) Jensen. Bob was preceded in death by his twin brother Richard Jensen and an older brother and sister, Max and Mary (also twins). He also has 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street in Orem, Utah. Viewings for friends and family will be held on Monday, September 18th from 6-8 p.m. and just prior to the funeral service on the 19th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Both viewings will be at the mortuary.  Burial will be at the Orem City Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion.

We appreciate the messages of love and support from those near and far, including those at the Beehive Homes and Applegate home and hospice.
