Robert Andrew Hasara, age 83 of Provo Utah, passed away peacefully at home with his family around him after a short illness on Monday, August 27 2018. He was born in Virden Illinois on April 1, 1935, to Andrew James and Ethelyn Todd Billingsly Hasara. He and his wife of 64 years Vickie were married on August 23, 1954, in the LDS Salt Lake City temple.
Bob lived a long full life and was a great father, grandfather, mentor, and teacher to his children and grandchildren. Shortly after graduating from High School, he attended Brigham Young University. Bob began working as a draftsman for aviation corporations in Los Angeles California. He traveled extensively across the U.S., Europe, and the Orient as a salesman in the construction laser industry. He ended his career as Vice President of Engineering with a laser corporation in Grand Rapids Michigan. His hobbies include gunsmithing and spending hours on his genealogy and family history. He loved listening to and collecting classical music and movie musical scores. Bob was a High Priest in the LDS church, serving on High Councils, in bishoprics, as a Bishop and then Stake President in the Dayton Ohio Stake for over nine years. Bob was an ordinance worker in the Chicago, Detroit, and Provo LDS temples. He and his wife served missions in the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission and the BYU Family History Library Mission.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Vickie, daughters Lora of Salt Lake City and Kimba (Jimmie) Smith of Salem Utah, sons Mark (Valerie) and Matthew (Kathryn) Hasara of Provo Utah, and daughters Kathryn Elliot (Edson) Hutchinson of Laguna Beach, and Kristie Guthrie (Russ) Jones of Mission Viejo California. Bob and Vickie are the grandparents of 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Andrew and mother Ethelyn, brothers Harry and David, and grandson Jeffrey.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Grandview Stake Center located at 1600 North 1880 West, Provo, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held before the funeral service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetary following the service at the Grandview Stake Center.
