Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Robert George Burgi, died Saturday, May 9, 2015, in Orem Utah at the age of 83. Robert (Bob) Burgi was born July 21, 1931 in Mapleton, Utah County, Utah. Robert grew up in Provo and later moved to Orem where he has spent most of his life. In 1949, Robert began active service in the U.S. Army and served extensively in the Korean conflict. While there he was promoted multiple times, up to the level of Master Sergeant. For his service he was awarded: The Korean Presidential Citation, Korean Service Metal with 3 Bronze Campaign Stars, and Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. Robert Burgi married Beverly Walker on December 19, 1952 in Elko Nevada and later solemnized their wedding in the Salt Lake Temple. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While there he served in many functions such as High Councilor, Bishop, Branch President at the Provo MTC, Stake Presidency and Mount Timpanogos Temple Ordinance worker. Robert and Beverly served an LDS Mission in Sydney Australia during 1996-1997. Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years Beverly (Walker) Burgi and children: Craig and (Corrine) Burgi, Linda Holman, Rodney and (Patricia) Burgi, Scott and (Lenore) Burgi, Christine and (Jose) Santamaria, Denise & (Grant) Edwards. He is survived by his sister Colleen Larson. He is also survived by 35 grand-children and 37 great grand-children. Robert was preceded in passing by his brothers Ernest Burgi and Fred Burgi and his sister Barbara Ferguson. Robert enjoyed golfing with friends, fly fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. A viewing is scheduled at the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street in Orem, on Tuesday, May 12th from 7pm-8pm. Funeral services are scheduled onWednesday, May 13th at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1700 South 400 East Orem, Utah. A viewing will also be held prior to the Funeral from 9:30am - 10:30am. Interment will follow immediately at the Orem Cemetery.
