Richard Michael Willson

Richard Michael Willson 82, of Orem, passed away Monday, December 23rd, 2024, at the Timpanogos Hospital.

He was born March 3rd, 1942, in Elmo, Utah, to Willis and Leatha Atwood Willson. Richard married Nina Helen Bryant on April 19th, 1963. They were sealed in the L.D.S. Manti Temple for time and all eternity on April 18th, 1987.

Richard is survived by his wife of 61 yrs Nina Willson, and his five children Richard John of Oakley, Utah, Beverely Ann of Orem, Utah, Michelle Lee of Orem, Utah, Helen Rae (Jessie Whittaker) of Orem, Utah, and David Jay (Raelynn Willson) of Tucson, Arizona. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandkids.

Richard grew up on a farm where chores were done before 7 am. Then off to school, he went. Some of his interests were fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He was always willing to help someone in need. He especially enjoyed helping with the mechanics on cars, lawnmowers or even bicycles.

When Richard and Nina were first married he drove a garbage truck for Orem City. Then he decided to go to work for Tesco Williamsons in Salt Lake City even though this meant traveling over the point of the mountain in all sorts of weather. He worked for them for 30 years as a mechanic, welder and a parts salesman. After that, he worked for Walmart in Lindon Utah in the tire department until he had his stroke in 2007

 A viewing will be held Sunday, December 29th, from 6-8 at Wheeler-Sundberg Funeral Home located at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah. There will also be a brief viewing on the 30th from 9:30-10:30 am at the church at 1505 N. Timberwolf Trail, Orem. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in the Orem City Cemetery following the services.
