Richard Farley

Richard Eldon Farley (aka Rick) came to earth on January 31, 1953 to Eldon and Bonnie Farley.  He was the oldest of 5 children and was raised in Sunnyvale California.  His time on earth was finished on May 20, 2021 after a debilitating battle with strokes and dementia.  He had always joyfully anticipated when he would leave mortality behind when it was his time and move on in his eternal journey.

Rick had two loves in his life: The Gospel of Jesus Christ and his Family. He served a mission to Arizona in 1972-1974. His favorite callings in the church were being a Seminary Teacher and a Nursery Leader.  He married Sheri Lynn Borgia in the Oakland Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on June 20, 1975.  They were the parents of 8 amazing children: Samuel, Nichole, Nathanial, Mandilyn, McKay, Deveren, Deianeira and Elias.  At the time of his passing he was the Grandfather of 32 (3 of which were waiting for him on the other side of the veil) and had 3 great grandchildren on their way to earth later in 2021.  Later in his life he had the opportunity to be Santa at a ward party and thus began 11 years of the best job he ever had.  He played the role of Santa Claus at Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights CA, touching the lives of countless families and children who will remember him fondly for years to come.  He often said it was “the most fun I’ve ever had”.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your ward mission fund or a favorite charity.  Rick never wanted gifts but instead asked his family to do service for others in his name.
