Ranae Davis Stone, 96 of Orem, Utah passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019. As a “coal miner’s daughter”, she was born in the little mining community of Latuda, Utah, in Carbon County, Utah to Levi Washington Davis and Alice Ruth Thorpe Davis. She married Clyde C. Stone on June 18, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1999.
Ranae was a member and past president of the Springville Fine Arts Club, as well as a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was Art City Queen in Springville during her senior year of high school. She had a great love of family, friends and neighbors. In her earlier years, with her Long Beach and Bellflower friends, she would hook up the trailer and head for O’Neil Park or Barton Flats in Southern California. Clyde and Ranae loved boating with their California friends down on the Colorado River near Parker Dam, or up at Lake Shasta.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints she served in many positions. She loved being a good, faithful visiting teacher. While serving as Primary President in the Long Beach 5th Ward, in California, there was a surprise visit from President David O. McKay to their Sacrament Meeting while they were doing their Primary Program.
She loved to visit with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. She had a standing luncheon appointment with her high school friends, until she outlived them all. She loved hosting dinner group with her friends in Orem. If she could talk you into it, she would pull out her rook cards or scrabble board and give you a run for your money. She had a gift for making chocolate chip cookies and homemade cinnamon rolls. She had a great love for anything chocolate and passed that on to her family.
Ranae is survived by her sister Marian Jacobson of Springville, Utah, her four children, Susan (Ray – deceased) Walker of Cedar Hills, Utah; Sallie (Bob) Emmons of Orem, Utah; Brad (Penny) Stone of Sandy, Utah; Barry (Laurie) Stone of Kona, Hawaii; 26 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren (2 deceased great grandchildren), 1 great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband and three sisters, Veryl, Evelyn and Jean.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Hillcrest 4th Ward Chapel located at 440 E. 800 S., Orem, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held prior to the funeral services from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.
