Ramon Wilkey

Ramon M. Wilkey, 83, died on April 26, 2019.  Ramon was born in Payson, Utah on April 15, 1936 to Herman and Eldora Wilkey. He received his schooling in Nephi.  He then attended Snow College for two years, and finished his degree in Industrial Arts at Utah State University in Logan, Utah.

Ramon married his high school sweetheart, Betty, in 1956, in the Manti Temple.  After Ramon’s graduation, they moved to Montello, Nevada where Ramon taught Industrial Arts and coached track. Moving to Las Vegas two years later, Ramon taught Wood Shop at Jim Bridger Jr. High, Von Tobel Jr. High and Woodbury Jr. High for the next 30 years. He made many beautiful pieces of furniture. He loved the outdoors and fished and hunted every chance he got.  He also enjoyed the hobbies of fly tying and bee keeping. He had many hives out near Warm Springs for many years.  Ramon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He held many positions in the church over his lifetime.

Ramon was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Eldora Wilkey, and brother, Blair. Ramon leaves behind his devoted wife, Betty, of 63 years, a daughter, Tamera, and son, Todd (Rona), 9 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Ramon also leaves behind three brothers, Byron (Rosalie), Jimmy (Sandy), and Nile (Robyn). Viewing from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Palm Mortuary, located at 6701 North Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 351 North 100 West., Nephi, UT, at 10 am. A viewing will be held 1 hour prior, from 9 - 9:30 am. Burial will be in Nephi, Utah on Saturday May 4, 2019.
