Rachel Ann Jensen, beloved daughter of Marvin W. Jensen and Doris M. Andelin passed away at the Hospice House in Stockton, California on May 8, 2015 of long-term effects of Aicardi Syndrome. Rachel was born on March 2, 1976 in Provo, Utah. She lived at home with her family in Orem for four years until they accepted an assignment with the Presiding Bishopric International Office of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Western Pacific. At that time Rachel went to live at the Tiny Tot's facility in Orem where she could receive 24-hour care. When the family completed their church assignments and relocated to Stockton, California, they arranged for Rachel to live at the Bear Creek Intermediate Care Facility in Lodi, California. Rachel lived there, under the loving care of Elena and Pol Gabriel and their staff for 25 years. During her stay in Lodi, Rachel participated in many educational and developmental programs under the auspices of the Valley Mountain Regional Center in Stockton. Rachel's family are members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. While never developing the ability to talk or to care for herself, Rachel always had a ready smile, a sweet personality, and a strong will. With her poor vision, she loved to look at lights, especially sunlight and would often stand at the window looking outside. She also loved peaceful classical music. She was beloved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed. Survivors include her parents Marvin W. Jensen of Lehi, Utah, Doris Margaret Andelin of Bettendorf, Iowa, and her siblings: Kimball W. Jensen (Lora Collins) of Saratoga Springs, Utah; Christian D. Jensen (Leah Bayton) of Bettendorf, Iowa; Jeanette Jensen Chan Jensen (Alan Jensen) of Stockton, California; Victoria (Tori) Jensen Williams (Austin Williams) of Spanish Fork, Utah; Jorgen W. Jensen (Josee Davis) of Boise, Idaho; and David W. Jensen (Julie Washburn) of Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held at Sundberg Olpin Mortuary at 495 South State, Orem, Utah at 11:00 a.m. May 20, 2015. Burial will follow at the Orem City Cemetery. Rachel's parents wish to extend their profound appreciation to the staff at the Bear Creek Intermediate Care Facility in Lodi, California, and to the staff at the Hospice House in Stockton, California for their loving care for their dear daughter.
