Phyllis Unice “Momsie” died peacefully in her bed on Monday morning July 5, 2021 after a long and productive life.
She raised four rambunctious sons, one with special needs. She developed patience and an undying love for each of them.
Momsie loved life! She was a farm girl, born in Cache Valley, and raised working on the farm. She had fond memories of cooking for the men working her father’s sawmill. She loved exploring southern Utah, skiing in her youth, and sleigh rides on the farm.
Her life was one of love and service. She was known for taking in strays, both human and animal. When people needed help, she welcomed them into her home.
Her two older brothers served in World War 2, one in Europe and the other in the Pacific. Worries for her brothers were part of her early life but she developed a deep sense of gratitude for God, Country, and freedom.
She graduated from high school in Richmond, Utah, and went on to BYU where she met her love, Robert Unice. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple and then moved to Texas where they developed lifelong friendships.
She was deeply religious, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She sent three sons on missions. She and Robert served two missions and she served others in her own way her entire life.
She was an expert seamstress and she wins the award for collecting the most fabric during her life. Her love of reenacting the pioneer heritage has become a strong family tradition. She also became an expert in herbal medicine.
She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by her four sons, Robbie, John (Barbara), Kyle (Michelle), Scott (Jana), and her eleven precious grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
