Phillip Naugle, 70 Phillip Elmes Naugle, 70, born in Larned, KS, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 in Salt Lake City, UT. Phillip is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cheryl Naugle, daughter Michelle Lewis, daughter Melissa Stofferan, son Phillip Naugle, son Ronald Naugle, son Mark Naugle, son Shawn Naugle, and many loving grandchildren. Phillip loved sports and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He coached basketball and baseball for 40+ years and was the coach for each of his six children for most of their childhood. Phillip retired from coaching at age 65 in 2010 after coaching a traveling baseball team in Arvada, CO that won 4 tournament championships and finished in the top 40 in Cooperstown, NY. Phillip enjoyed being his own boss and started his own business, American Research Foundation, where he worked out of his home as a private investigator for most of his adult life. He thrived on the idea of working for what he had and helping those around him. Phillip was known to be able to find people that no one else ever could. Phillip was known for always helping his family, friends, and neighbors with whatever they needed. While living in Orem, UT, he helped care for an elderly man daily until his passing. He would operate his snow blower during the winter months throughout the entire neighborhood's driveways and sidewalks each time there was snowfall without ever being asked. In Colorado Springs, CO, he mowed his neighbors' lawns in the spring and summer, shoveled their walkways in the winter, and was always lending out his tools and manpower to help others. Throughout most of his life, Phillip was always picking up the tab for family and friends at restaurants, bars, and gatherings. He never thought about the money-it made him feel good to take care of others. During the past three years of his life, Phillip spent each day recovering from a stroke he suffered in 2012. While he never regained what he had lost, there was never any doubt how much he loved his wife each and every day. Memorial services will be held Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home, 495 South State Street, Orem. A gathering of friends and family will be held at noon prior to the services. May he rest in peace.
