Peter Workman (90) of Orem passed away peacefully Saturday, August 11. Peter was born in Hatch, Utah, October 18, 1927. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Norma Alene Curtis May 30, 1948 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Peter worked at Geneva Steel for over thirty years.
Peter’s life was characterized by service. He served in many church callings and had a particular love for scouting. He loved sports and coached Little League. He often set up a bike repair shop and barber shop in the carport for all the kids in the neighborhood. After retirement, he spent countless hours working with the Golden Kiwanis and American Legion. He particularly loved his time as a foster grandparent, teaching children to read, and the hours he spent with his grandchildren working in the snack shack. Peter loved the outdoors and was a hunter, fisherman and golfer.
Peter is survived by his wife of seventy years, Norma Curtis Workman, two daughters and three sons. Colleen (Keith) Barlow, Alene (David) Ramos, Lloyd (Cathy) Workman, Layne (Debbie) Workman and Glen Workman. He was greeted by six children who preceded him in death, David, Diane, Connie, Linda, Karl and Neal. Peter was grandpa to 35 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11am, Thursday, August 16, at the LDS church 310 N. 100 E. A viewing will precede the funeral at 9:30am at that location. A viewing will also be held Wednesday from 6pm – 8pm at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary 495 S. State Street, Orem.
