Norma Gammon Brown, born April 8, 1932, passed away April 28, 2017, at age 85.
Norma was born in Provo, Utah, to Lindsay William Gammon and Melissa Lucille Grant. She grew up in Provo with her older brother, Don, and her younger sister, Joyce. She had a deep loyalty to her family, nursing her own father through cancer as a child, taking care of her mother for more than 60 years, and assisting her sister through her illness. She graduated from Provo High School and attended BYU, walking 20 blocks from her home each day.
On September 9, 1953, Norma married Russell Olsen Brown in the Manti Utah Temple. Norma was a devoted wife and mother, supporting her husband in his engineering career and encouraging her children to set goals, work hard and develop their talents. Her legacy is the success her children have enjoyed. She never missed an event where her children participated, from musicals and piano performances to basketball games and tennis matches. Her encouragement and love toward her children and grandchildren was exemplary. Her grandchildren fondly remember trips to Disneyland and many fun days at Grandma’s house.
Preceded in death by her parents and siblings, she is survived by her husband, Russell; her children, Sherry, Steve (Lisa), Matt (Cheryl) and Holly (Wayne); her 13 grandchildren and her two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary (495 South State Street,Orem) on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 11 a.m. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Following the services she will be interred at Orem City Cemetery.
