Myrtle Loraine Omon Wangemann
10/2/1924 – 8/16/2016
Myrtle Loraine Omon Wangemann passed away on August 16, 2016 in Provo, Utah from natural causes incident to age. Myrtle was born on October 2, 1924 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the oldest child of Lester and Florence Omon. She went to Jefferson elementary school and graduated from Nathan Hale High School and then spent the next 3 months at Miss Brown’s Business College. After her 18th birthday she worked at the Wisconsin Electric Power Company for about 8 years. She enjoyed dancing and roller skating and while skating she met Roger Carl Wangemann, the love of her life. They dated and were married in April of 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they became the proud parents of 8 beautiful children. One of her greatest accomplishments in life was raising her children and watching them succeed in life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. While her children were young, she and her family lived next to her parents in West Allis which was a great comfort as family was very important to her and she was able to see them often. In 1968 her family moved to Atlanta, Ga. so that Roger could pursue his career. After all the children were raised, her and Roger moved to Provo, Utah so that they could be closer to most of their children.
In 1960 she was baptized and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She spent her life serving others in various callings of the church and she was always willing to help others. She was deeply devoted to her Heavenly Father and has been able to feel the hand of the Lord in her life.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Roger, her sister Joyce Koenig, and her parents. She is survived by her 8 children: Barbara Riedel (Robert), George (Judy), Douglas (Diane), Nancy Parsons (Brent), Thomas Lester (Lori), Paul (Vonda), John (Kathy), and Jean Cannon (George). She is also survived by her 36 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the love, support, and service rendered from friends, neighbors and ward members that were so willing to check on Mom and help her out in her later years.
