Mary Tillack

March 11, 1943 — January 30, 2016

Mary Elizabeth (Gardiner) Tillack, age 72, passed away in her home on January 30, 2016 from complications of heart disease. Mary was born March 11, 1943, in Vernal, the youngest of nine children to Carl and Zina Palmer Gardiner. She contracted rheumatic fever and struggled with heart issues. Against doctor's orders, she married and had five children. Mary dedicated her life to serving others with a hundred percent effort. She was always a wonderful example to her family and all she met, especially demonstrating kindness, and forgiveness. She was a spoiler, paying special attention and love to each person. She also made the most delicious bread, was an excellent cook and a great seamstress. The last project she worked on over Christmas was teaching her son Greg, who is in the bishopric, how to make a quilt for the young women in his ward. Mary served as a Stake Missionary in Reno Nevada, where she met Bruce. She graduated from LDS Business College. She enjoyed hosting a family reunion in Martin's Cove, WY. Visiting the Grand Canyon with Bruce, and traveling several times to visit her daughters in Atlanta and Hawaii. Mary supported her husband in all his endeavors, including building and working an LDS Farm in Alberta Canada. She also worked for 22 years at BYU; receiving the "Brigham Young Distinguished Employee Award" for dedicated service ensuring students living on-campus were well cared for. Mary is survived by her husband, Bruce Tillack of Orem Utah; her children: Melissa, Alicia (Maurice), Greg (Diana), Andy (Diana), Connie (Cole) and by her 11 grandchildren: Jakobi, Nicolas, Zackary, Oliver, Devin, Hunter, Madyson, Camila, Maggie, Drew, and Ian; her sister Shirley Morrison, and brothers Dale (Helen), Wayne (Renee), and John Gardiner. She was preceded in death by parents Carl and Zina Gardiner, step-mother Marvel, her sister Deon Ross, and brothers Garl, Deloy, Udell.
