Mary Warner Palmer passed away on June 25th in Orem, Utah at the age of 94. Born Sept 25th 1920 in Fillmore, Utah to Newel and Ellen Mar Warner, Mary was the fifth of ten children and a direct descendent the early Mormon pioneers who settled the Fillmore area. Mary spent her childhood in Fillmore meeting her lifelong sweetheart, Robert A. Palmer in the 6th grade. They were married June 24th 1938 and later sealed in the Manti Temple. They raised their family of nine children in the same town and were very involved with friends and community until 1961, when Robert's expanding business, Palmer Bros. Inc., took them north to Bountiful. After parenting duties were complete, Mary and Robert moved to Orem to live their golden years and to travel together to many parts of the world. In 2009 Mary's beloved partner passed away. The next seven years she lived with courage, grace and dignity as she longed to be reunited with the love of her life and eternal companion. Mary was first and foremost a dedicated wife and mother. Her strength and stamina were as remarkable as that of the heritage she embodied. She managed her family with structural excellence--a living example of her favorite saying: "Anything worth doing is worth doing well." Her cooking was legendary and her passion for gardening, best expressed in her skill with roses, helped transform every house into a beautiful home and her yards into award winning landscapes. In her later years, her love for her children transformed her into an exceptional grandmother as she took care of every new baby and their mothers. She leaves behind a posterity, now numbering close to two hundred, who recognize her with the deepest sense of love, respect and appreciation for the example she set for them. Mary's surviving children are Robert L. (Colleen) Palmer, Patricia (Larry) Schlappi, Janet (Dick) Tuttle, Russell (Jeanne) Palmer, Julia (Ricardo) Carbajal, Chris (Holly) Palmer. She is also survived by her brother Dick (Carol) Warner and sister Marjean Peas. She was preceded in death by her children Richard (Anna) Palmer, Marianne Palmer, and Helen Palmer. She was also preceded by her siblings Beth, Myrle, Edith (Vernon) Cummings, Duane (Audrey) Warner, Meldon (Gwen) Warner, Ray (Donna) Warner and Helen (Harold) Runner. Mary's viewing will be held Thursday July 2nd from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State St. in Orem. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at the Farmington City Cemetery 500 S. 200 E. in Farmington. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sundbergolpinmortuary.com. The family expresses their gratitude to the staff at Summerfield Manor in Orem and Envision Hospice for their loving care and assistance.
