Marvin Kay Christensen gracefully passed from this life to the next, on April 14, 2016, in American Fork.
He was the born in Orem, Utah on June 22, 1931, to Victor and Evelyn Christensen. He was the first born of four boys.
He attended and graduated from Lincoln High School, where he met Bernice Nuttall. They was married and sealed in the Manti Temple in 1950. They had five children.
Bernice succumbed to ovarian cancer in 1993. Kay remarried in 1999 to JoElla DeWolf and sealed in the Timpanogos Temple in 2001.
He worked at Geneva Steel for more than 47, most of that time as a metallurgist. He always enjoyed his work and developed close friendships with many others he had the pleasure of working with.
Kay always enjoyed the outdoors, teaching his family about the joys of camping, fishing and hunting. Kay had an insatiable desire to learn, always reading, and expanding his knowledge in many things. His hobbies included knife making, leather work, and creative arts of western flair.
Kay was an assistant coach for Utah Valley Community College Women's Softball team, and later an assistant coach for Snow College Women's Softball team. He also taught private lessons for fast-pitch softball.
He served in many LDS calling, most recently as a temple worker, for 14 years in the Timpanogos Temple.
He is survived by his wife, JoElla, his five children, Marvin Kay Christensen Jr.(Shauna), Steven Christensen (Michelle), Sherrie Rigby (Kelly), Victor Royden Christensen (Cindy), Kyle Tyrone Christensen. Also two step-children, Kim Eckles (Lori), Desiree Middleton (Bob), and one adopted son Lex Kohler. Three brothers, Don Christensen (Ann), Larry Christensen (Ginger), Melvin Christensen (Louella), 28 grandchildren, and 52 great grandchildren! He is preceded in death by his parents Victor and Evelyn Christensen, his first wife Bernice Christensen, and a step-son Terry Eckles.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork North Stake Center, 975 North 60 East, American Fork, UT. Friends may call Monday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home, 495 South State Street, Orem, UT, or Tuesday 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be the Orem Cemetery.
