Marquitta Campbell Larsen, 85, of Orem, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 after losing a two-year battle with dementia. She was born on December 21, 1934, along with her twin brother Markay, in Austin, Utah, to J. Larvin Campbell and Margaret Eve Pope. The family later moved to Springville, Utah when she was 12. She graduated from Springville High School in 1952, where she was once a cheerleader and an Art City Princess.
Marquitta married Kent Ferguson Larsen of Spanish Fork on December 1, 1954. Their first home was in Orem, Utah. But shortly after the birth of their first child in 1956, they relocated to Southern California (first Seal Beach and finally Huntington Beach), where they spent 19 years owning and operating service stations and raising their four children. Kent and Marquitta returned to Orem in 1975, where they owned and operated their final service station on 400 North in Orem (Larsen’s Super Service). Marquitta was involved in the business bookkeeping throughout the years, but also enjoyed occasionally working behind the counter of their convenience store and getting to know their customers. She enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and spending time in their Las Vegas home with Kent.
Marquitta is survived by her husband, Kent, two children: Jayne (Brent) Mooney and Les (Mia) Larsen, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters: Lorie (T.J.) Blair and Sharon (Gordon) Wilson, and her six older brothers: L Voyle, F. Derel, Garn, Cecil, Aldon, and Markay.
A Viewing for family and friends will be held Monday, August 24, from 1-1:45 pm at Sundberg-Olpin & Wheeler Mortuary, located at 495 S. State Street, Orem. A Graveside Service will follow at 2 p.m. at Orem City Cemetery.
The family wants to give special thanks to the staff at Covington Village (92 S. 800 E. Orem) for their support and kindness in caring for Marquitta until the end.
