Mark Weight

September 26, 1942 — June 16, 2017

Mark Weight, 74, of Lindon passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017.  Mark was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.  His hobbies included building and improving homes and gardening.  He loved to feel the dirt in his hands and kept everything that he touched looking beautiful.  He was very artistic and liked to paint with oils and do pencil sketching.  He also had a great love and appreciation for music.  He played the coronet, baritone horn, trombone, and piano.

He had a huge love for all kinds of animals and took great joy in raising and training them.  Jokingly, he was called the “animal whisperer.”

Mark served faithfully and with much love in several LDS church callings: home teacher, Sunday school teacher, young men’s president, elder’s quorum president, high priest group leader, bishop’s counselor (1st and 2nd), high councilman, assistant ward clerk, stake calling (with his wife Sandie) working with the Laotian branch for 7 ½ years, stake Melchizedek priesthood advisor, priest quorum advisor.  Mark served an LDS mission in the state of Florida and graduated from the University of Utah with a business major.

His greatest joy and love was for his family.  He is survived by his loving wife Sandie; his five children- Juliet (Michael) Salazar, Mark Antony (Denise) Weight, Richard Taylor Weight, Melanie Dawn (Talbot) Lloyd, Kelly Dee Weight; two step children- Kelli Ann Edwards and Jeffery Todd Edwards; and 20 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at noon in the Lindon LDS 1st Ward Chapel located at 56 East 600 North, Lindon, Utah. Viewings will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah, and Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services at the church. The dedication of the grave will be at the Evergreen Cemetery located at 1997 South 400 East in Springville, Utah.
