Marilyn Jean (Rasmussen) Cox returned to her Heavenly Home on January 4, 2018, to be with the love of her life. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was born October 19, 1941, to Mary Jean Hansen and Frederick Cecil Rasmussen. She was the oldest of four children. She married Jerry Cox on June 15, 1957. They had six children, 18 grandchildren, and—at the time of her death—she had 37 great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren. Shortly after they married, Marilyn and Jerry moved to Colorado and then later to Orem, Utah, where they lived for about 50 years.
Marilyn spent many of her years as a mother and homemaker raising her six children but later worked for Alpine School District as a “lunch lady.” Marilyn endured many trials and hardships including many health issues. She also raised a child with a disability. Through all of these difficulties, she remained strong, faithful, and patient and had a positive attitude. Her great example of strength and courage will always be remembered.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her parents, and a brother Ronald Rasmussen. She is survived by her brother Roger Rasmussen of Nephi, her sister Joanne Thompson of Wales, her son Charles (Terie) Cox of Lehi, Teresa (Dennis) Hungerford of Lehi, Julie (Terrel) Liljenquist of Salt Lake City, Joyce (Richard) Anderson of Salt Lake City, Pamela (Gerry) Fordham of Saratoga Springs, and Jerry Cox of Orem.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street in Orem. A viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. just prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
