Marie Olsen
March 23, 1945 — July 28, 2017
Our dear sweet wife and mother, Marie Thomas Olsen, passed away peacefully at home on July 28, 2017. She was born on March 23, 1945, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Dave and Bethel Thomas. She married the love of her life, Shirl Olsen, on June 14, 1963.
Marie worked as a preschool teacher and family service coordinator for many years, she cherished working with the children and their families. Marie love attending car shows and swap meets with Shirl. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, canning, shopping, and going out to lunch with friends and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the queen of family parties, and will always be known for her “black walnut fudge.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Bethel, twin sister Marcha Freeze, and brother Paul Thomas. She is survived by her husband Shirl Olsen, her four children, Rex Olsen, Michelle (Chad) Carter, Shana (Ronnie) Woolsey, Roger (Hayley) Olsen, 13 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at 485 West Center Street in Spanish Fork, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Both viewings will be held at the church. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
We appreciate the out pouring of love, support, and service that has been given to our family at this time. We also wanted to thank Maple Creek Home Health & Hospice for the wonderful care that they rendered for Marie. She will will be greatly missed by all. We love you Marie!
