Marie Liston

September 7, 1915 — July 2, 2014

Marie Hall Liston passed away peacefully at home, in Orem, Utah on July 2, 2014 surrounded by her family, at the age of 98. She was born in Hurricane, Utah on September 7th, 1915 to Annabelle Demille and Merrill Hall. She graduated as the valedictorian of her class at Hurricane High School. She earned her degree from Branch Agricultural College (Southern Utah University) where she also met her sweetheart, Verdin Liston. They married on November 26th, 1935 fro time and all eternity in the St. George temple and settled in Orem, Utah that same year.

Marie loved Relief Society, she was always active in her church callings and the community. She regularly attended and held positions in Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the Orem Women's Club, Republican Women's club, and the Paideia Sorisis Club.

Her quilting skills were unmatched, and produced hundreds of works of art in her lifetime. She never forgot to send birthday cards to her entire family. Her energy, wit and charm drew people in, kept her friends and family close, and she always had time to visit. She was our mother, grandmother, sister, friend, teacher, and example. She lived a beautiful, full life and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by 6 children Sandra (Kendall) Baker, Sherrill (Sherry), Elaine (Joseph) Ford, Larry (Madelyn), Joyce Groom, Janice (Delwin) Hemingway, daughter in-law Patty, her sister, Stella Zeleski and 71 Grandchildren, 112 great grandchildren, and 15 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verdin, youngest son, Paul, grandchildren Josh Baker and Brynlee Liston.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July, 9, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Hillcrest 8th Ward Chapel, 1000 South 800 East, Orem. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home, 495 South State Street, Orem and also Wednesday at the ward chapel 9:00 a.m. 9:45 a.m. Prior to the services. Interment will be held in the Orem City Cemetery.
