Maria De La Cruz

Maria del Rosario Torres, 64, of Orem, passed away peacefully on February 11th, 2021. Rosario was born July 25th, 1956 in Torreon, Coahuila to Alfredo Torres and Esperanza Magallanes. She studied to be a private accountant as a trade in Mexico.

Rosario married her sweetheart, Tobias De La Cruz, and they were sealed on March 21st, 1978 in the Meza, Arizona LDS Temple. They enjoyed nearly 48 years of wonderful friendship, love and companionship. They are the parents of 2 daughters, a son, and many grandchildren.

Family was everything to Mom. She is survived by her husband: Tobias of Orem; daughters: Ruth (Baltazar) of Mexico, Elizabeth (Peni) of Orem; son: Jared of Orem; and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Alfredo and Esperanza.

Mom was beautiful, loving, full of fun, and very hard working. All that knew her were inspired by her love to serve others, especially her family. She was a devoted wife and mother and cherished every single one of her grandchildren.

Mom was a very faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was baptized by her sweetheart at the young age of 18 in Mexico. She also served her LDS faith in many different leadership capacities in the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary organizations. She was actively serving a Family History mission for the last 4 ½ years and would have ended her service in September 2021. She was exceptionally talented and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cooking. Her favorite past-times were reading educational and religious literature. She is indeed a wonderful person. We have all been abundantly blessed from her Christlike example. We love her, and greatly look forward to being reunited someday.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20,2021, at 11 a.m. at Aspen 7th Ward, 965 West 2000 North, Orem, Utah. The burial will be at the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, Utah.
