Mabel Hartvigsen Christiansen was born November 30, 1918 in Downey, Idaho, to Ellen Amelia and Joakim Ferdinand Hartvigsen, and died October 26, 2014 in Orem, Utah. Mabel was the 7th oldest of 9 siblings. She loved her family and as a child learned to work on the farm growing and selling fruits and vegetables to help support the family. She attended Utah State University, and then worked at the Ogden Arsenal during World War II. For most of her career Mabel worked at the Veterans Administration Personnel Office in Salt Lake City, where she held many important management responsibilities. Mabel was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, and served a mission to Nauvoo, Illinois from 1955 to 1956. On January 30, 1975, Mabel married (Mack) Golden McKinley Christiansen, and they lived in Orem, Provo and St George. Mack and Mabel loved to golf, travel and dance. They enjoyed BYU sports and were members of the Cougar Club. Mack died on May 23, 1989. Mabel is survived by her sister Ruby Wilson, step-daughters Suzanne Rich and Jill Soffe, and numerous grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S State Orem, Utah, November 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. A viewing will be held prior from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Interment will occur after the funeral services at the Orem City Cemetery.
