Luelma Broderick Bradford

1928-2016

Our kind and loving mother, Luelma Broderick Bradford, slipped away peacefully in her home on Monday, September 12, 2016. She was born in Emery, Utah, on December 1, 1928, the sixth child of Ferry and Irene Broderick.

Mom had a heart that seemed too big for this world. She had her father’s kindness and her gentle mother’s humor. She was a caregiver, confidante, and best friend to her husband, children, grandchildren, and all who knew her. Her steady, cheerful perseverance through many trials leaves a lasting example. Mom loved laughter, flowers, hummingbirds, babies, her family, and her Savior.

After graduating from high school, she moved to Salt Lake City with only a $10 bill in her pocket. There she found work as a telephone operator and, later, as a library clerk at the University of Utah. Mom’s life was filled with service to her family, friends, and church, including missions to the Southern States and Spokane, Washington.

Luelma married her sweetheart, Tex Kline Bradford, on February 21, 1958, in the Salt Lake City Temple.  Her children include Nanette (Stephen Taniguchi), Mary Wyrwitzke, Robert, Heidi (Sterling Hilton), Ruthie, Colette (Matthew Smith), Kline (Susan), Kay (Glenna), Kyle (RuthAnne), and Beverly (Burton Withey). She has 30 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Sherwin Broderick (Ann Marie). She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters, 4 brothers, 2 sons, and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 12:00 noon at the Orem Sunset Heights Second Ward, 1260 South 400 West. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, and from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be at Provo City Cemetery. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Summit Hospice for their loving care during Mom’s final months.
