Lucille M. Scott

Orem -- Lucille M. Scott, a long time resident of Utah (Orem, Cedar City, Salem) went home to her Heavenly Father on September 10, 2016. She was a long time active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She and her husband, Eugene Scott, served on two missions together and Lucille served in various other callings in the church.

Lucille was born in 1923 in Albuquerque, NM and grew up in Denver, CO. She later moved to CA and then to UT. She was one of seventeen children.

Lucille worked for the Telephone company for 34 years prior to her retirement. She had a strong work ethic and went from being a part time switch board operator to the engineering department and then to supervisor. She received special recognition for 25 years of perfect attendance. While working at the phone co she also worked part-time as a professional ballroom dance instructor. The studio considered her one of their best instructors because she danced with such ease and agility and was able to impart that to her students. Little did they know that she taught herself to dance from books and we, her children, were her practice partners.

Lucille was strong in body, mind and spirit. She was resourceful and had boundless energy. She believed that you could do whatever you set your mind to if you didn’t give up. Amongst her many passions, she loved gardening, quilting, music, art, football, fishing and most of all traveling. Her life was truly a tapestry of beautiful colors.

She is survived by her 5 children: Gabriel Lopez, Lucille Zabriskie, Anita Lopez, Andrea Wilson, and Gregory Scott; 28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; her sister Alma Martin and brothers: Raul, Helaman and Esequiel Lucero.
