Lowell J Stratford, born 16 Jan 1929 in Pocatello, Idaho to Rae Percy Stratford and Olive Eudora Jensen, passed away 18 April 2016 with his daughters by his side. Lowell was a sweet, kind man with a clever sense of humor. As family members and friends said goodbye and gave requests to hug others when he met them on the other side, his weak and soft-spoken reply was “get in line.”
He met good friends at a young age and they stayed close through all their days—having lunch once a month well into their 80’s! Many wonderful times were spentwith those friends and his older brother at the family cabin in Island Park—a great place for a boy to grow up!
He met Elaine Taylor at Stanford, where he graduated in Economics and became a CPA. They were married 32 hours after he was released from his mission in Bern, Switzerland in 1953. She preceded him in death in 2010.
Lowell and Elaine raised their family in Anaheim, California until moving to Provo, Utah in 1975, where he lived the rest of his life.
He was a man of great faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He served valiantly throughout his life through missions and the example he set for his family and anyone he came in contact with.
He will be missed by his children: Tim Stratford (Robin), David Stratford, Robin Gunnell (Steve), Jaime Holmes (Rob) and Dan Stratford (Sue). He was loved by his 19 grandchildren and 22 (soon to be 26) great-granchildren; and by his loving and caring older brother, Ray Paul Stratford (Nancy).
There will be an informal open house Friday, April 22 from 6-8 p.m. at the home of Tim and Robin Stratford—984 Dover Dr, Provo. He will be buried in the family plot in Pocatello, Idaho.
