Lois Rohbock

Obituary for Lois McClellan Kenworthy Rohbock .

Lois passed through the veil on May 24, 2016—two weeks shy of her 91st birthday.  She was born to David A., Jr., and Hortense Langford McClellan on June 6, 1925, in Venice, California. Though her family moved often she spent the entirety of her childhood in the Culver City/Venice/Santa Monica area.  On Mother’s Day, May 9, 1943, she married Kenneth Kenworthy in the backyard of her parent’s home.  They were sealed for time and eternity three days later in the St. George Temple.  Lois was a “war bride”--Ken was in the U.S. Army and stationed at the Army Air Base in Santa Rosa, California.  After the war they had no money to move and decided to make Santa Rosa their home.  Ken and Lois were blessed with nine children—Deanna, Randy, Chris, Mary, Tom, Jamie, Gary, Steve and Janelle.

Lois’ passions in life were the Gospel of Jesus Christ and her family.  She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings as a teacher and leader.  But perhaps her favorite callings were her missionary assignments serving with Ken in South Africa, the Philippines, and Papua New Guinea.  On another mission working with the developmentally disabled at Deseret Industries, Ken and Lois worked with another missionary couple, George and Ruth Rohbock.

At home, Lois was an outstanding mother, teaching her children a love for the Gospel, the value of hard-work, and the joy of serving others.  Weekly Family Home Evening and twice-daily family prayer were as regular as going to Church every week.  Family outings and vacations were just as important. Boating and water-skiing outings occurred almost weekly during the summer.  Interstate 80 and Interstate 15 were worn down by the family’s many trips to Utah to visit family and attend General Conference.

Ken passed away in January 1999 after 55 ½ years of wedded bliss...or wedded something.  A few months later Lois encountered George Rohbock and found that he, too, had been recently widowed.  They began dating and on October 16, 1999, were married in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.  Lois welcomed another large family into her life.  George passed away in June of 2007. He had promised Lois five years but had given her eight.

Lois leaves a tremendous living legacy.  She is survived by eight children, 52 grandchildren, a bazillion great-grandchildren and a few great-great grandchildren; step-children, step-grandchildren; a sister, Rosa Mae, a brother, Donald, and a brother-in-law, Grant Keeler; countless nephews and nieces.

Lois is predeceased by her parents, two husbands, an infant child, Jamie, and seven siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the LDS Chapel located at 1240 North 950 West in Orem, with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the same address. An evening viewing will be held at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 6 – 8 pm. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, Ut.
